The Ash-throated Flycatcher is the most widespread Myiarchus flycatcher in the western US, a cavity nester that uses nest boxes, fence posts, and natural cavities across dry open habitats. Its pale yellow belly and whitish throat are less vivid than the Great Crested Flycatcher's. It has one of the most distinctive calls of western flycatchers — a rolling 'ka-brick'.
