The Twin-spot Hoverfly is one of the smallest and most abundant hoverflies in eastern North America, tiny enough to visit flowers the size of a pinhead. It has a narrow waist with yellow-and-black patterning on its abdomen. Larvae feed on aphid colonies and adults are important tiny pollinators of small-flowered plants.
