Illustration of Zoropsis Spider (Zoropsis spinimana)

The Zoropsis spider is a large, Mediterranean hunting spider introduced to California where it has established populations, resembling a large wolf spider with distinctive yellowish-brown markings and a heart-shaped abdominal pattern. It hunts without a web and can grow to impressive size. Despite being non-native, it appears to coexist with native spiders rather than heavily displacing them.
