The Acmon Blue is a small western butterfly, with males showing brilliant blue wings edged in orange and black while females are browner with orange submarginal spots. It has a wide distribution in the West and can be found in multiple broods throughout the warm season. The larvae are tended by ants that harvest secretions from a special gland.

Dry hillsides, chaparral, open woodlands, and roadsides
Diet
Larvae: buckwheat and deerweed. Adults: nectar
