The Atlantis Fritillary is a medium-sized, richly colored fritillary with a dark reddish-brown ground color and a broad dark brown border on the hindwing underside. It inhabits boreal and montane forests across North America. It is among the most widespread of the larger fritillaries and is single-brooded in midsummer. Like all Speyeria, eggs hatch in fall and tiny larvae overwinter before feeding in spring.
