The Island Canary is the wild ancestor of the domestic canary, native to the Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Azores. Escaped cage birds have established small feral populations in Puerto Rico and Bermuda. Wild canaries are much plainer than domestic forms — greenish and streaked rather than bright yellow. It sings a rich, musical warble.
