The Jabiru is the tallest flying bird in the Americas, standing nearly five feet tall. It is the only member of its genus and is found from Mexico to Argentina. It very occasionally wanders into southern Texas, where sightings generate considerable excitement. The massive black bill, white body, and red bare neck skin are unmistakable.
