Illustration of Kentucky Warbler (Geothlypis formosa)

The Kentucky Warbler is a skulking yellow warbler of shaded forest floors in the southeastern US. The bold black sideburns extending down from the eyes distinguish it from other yellow warblers. It walks on the ground, constantly flicking its wings, and is far more often heard than seen. Its loud, rolling 'churry-churry-churry' song carries far through damp forests.

Habitat
Moist, shaded deciduous forest floors in the southeastern and mid-Atlantic US

Caterpillars and insects from leaf litter
