The Spicebush Swallowtail is a dark-winged butterfly with iridescent blue-green hindwing patches in females and striking turquoise in males. Its caterpillar mimics a snake, complete with large false eyespots on a swollen thorax. Adults are strong fliers found nectaring at flowers in wooded areas.
