The Panama Pocket Gopher is a large, poorly known gopher of the highlands of central and western Panama, at the southern limit of the North American pocket gopher radiation. Very few specimens have been examined and its distribution is incompletely understood. Its large body and powerful claws are typical of high-altitude tropical pocket gophers in this genus.
