The Panamanian Night Monkey is the only strictly nocturnal monkey in North America, with enormous, forward-facing eyes that collect maximum light in dark forests. It is monogamous and the male carries the infant more than the female does—among the most paternal primates known. It reaches Panama, which is considered part of North America, and was recently split from other night monkey species.
