The Panama Spiny Pocket Mouse is a heteromyid rodent inhabiting tropical dry forests of Panama and Costa Rica at the southern boundary of North America. It is a ground-foraging seed specialist with mixed soft and spiny fur on its back and external cheek pouches for carrying seeds. Very little is known about its population size or ecology.
