Red Chokeberry is a native shrub of wet, acidic soils along the Atlantic coastal plain and in Appalachian bogs, producing spectacular clusters of red berries that persist from fall through early spring. Despite being quite astringent, the berries are consumed by many bird species in winter. The plant produces brilliant red fall foliage.
