Red Pine is a tall, straight-trunked pine of the Great Lakes region and New England, recognized by its reddish-orange bark in large plates and dark green needles in bundles of two. It was widely planted for reforestation and timber throughout the 20th century. Its seeds are eaten by red squirrels, white-winged crossbills, and many birds.
