The Naked-tailed Climbing Rat is a large-bodied, highly arboreal tropical rat that climbs trees and cliffs with a naked, prehensile-like tail used for balance. It is found from Guerrero, Mexico, south through Central America and is associated with humid tropical forests. Very little is known about its ecology and it is rarely photographed in the wild.
