The Mexican Water Mouse is an aquatic rodent of montane streams in southern Mexico and Guatemala, with partially webbed hind feet and water-repellent fur adapted for swimming. It dives and forages on the streambed for aquatic invertebrates and small fish. This is one of the most specialized freshwater rodents in North America.
