The Western Harvest Mouse is a tiny, big-eared mouse recognized by the distinctive groove down the front of each upper incisor, unique among American mice. It builds spherical grass nests above the ground among dense vegetation, using them for sleeping and raising young. Its grooved incisors are an adaptation for stripping grass seeds efficiently.
