The Western Red Bat is the western counterpart of the eastern red bat, recently separated as a distinct species based on genetic and morphological differences. It roosts solitarily in tree foliage across western North America and Mexico, using its reddish-orange fur for camouflage among autumn leaves. Like its eastern relative, it undertakes seasonal migrations to warmer southern latitudes.
