The Melon-headed Whale is a small, slender dolphin of tropical deep waters occasionally seen offshore of southern California, the Gulf of Mexico, and Atlantic approaches to Florida. It forms large, fast-moving groups of hundreds and is often seen associated with Fraser's dolphins. Its slender melon, pointed snout, and cape pattern help distinguish it at sea.
