The Mexican Big-eared Bat is closely related to Townsend's big-eared bat but is restricted to the mountains of Mexico and barely enters the extreme southern United States. Like its relative, it has enormously enlarged ears and is a specialist moth hunter using slow, hovering flight to pluck prey from foliage. It roosts in small groups in caves and mine tunnels.
