The Jaguar is the largest cat in the Americas and the only Panthera species found in the New World. It has the most powerful bite relative to size of any big cat, capable of crushing turtle shells and piercing crocodilian skulls. Rare individuals occasionally wander into the borderlands of Arizona and New Mexico from strongholds in Mexico.
