Illustration of Sage Thrasher (Oreoscoptes montanus)

The Sage Thrasher is the smallest thrasher and the only one found predominantly in sagebrush habitat. It is a spotted, thrush-like bird heavily dependent on intact Great Basin sagebrush steppe. Its rich, continuous, warbling song is one of the signature sounds of the sagebrush West. Short bill and spotted breast distinguish it from other thrashers.
