The Hooded Skunk is distinguished from the familiar Striped Skunk by the soft white 'hood' of fur around its neck and extremely long tail. It is primarily a Mexican species that enters the southwestern United States in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. The hooded skunk often forages in riparian brush and canyon bottoms.
