The Clouded Skipper is a small, dark-winged grass skipper with subtle violet iridescence on freshly emerged individuals and scattered small white spots on its forewing. It is one of the most widespread skippers in the southeastern United States. Its caterpillars live in leaf shelters of various grasses in moist, shaded habitats.
