The Glaucous-winged Gull is the dominant large gull of the Pacific Coast, found from Alaska to Baja California. The gray wingtips — not black as in most large gulls — are distinctive. It hybridizes extensively with the Western Gull in the Pacific Northwest, producing intermediate plumages. It is an opportunistic scavenger and predator of seabird colonies.
