The Orchard Oriole is the smallest oriole in North America, and adult males are distinctively chestnut and black rather than the bright orange of most orioles. It is one of the last spring migrants to arrive and one of the first to depart — spending only about two months on its breeding grounds before heading back to Central America. It weaves a beautiful, deep-pouch nest from grass suspended from a tree branch.
