The Capybara is the world's largest rodent, with adults reaching 140 pounds, and is semi-aquatic, capable of remaining submerged for up to five minutes to avoid predators. Native to South America, capybaras have escaped captivity in Florida and established small feral populations in the state. They are highly social herd animals and live in groups of 10 to 20 along riverbanks.
