The Grayish Tayra is the grizzled-headed northern subspecies of the tayra found in Mexico, with older individuals showing a strongly grayed head and neck. It is equally at home on the ground and in the trees, hunting prey from large tree frogs to small deer fawns. It is one of the few mustelids with confirmed deliberate food caching behavior involving assessment of future ripeness.
