The Broad-billed Hummingbird is a Mexican species that reaches the US in southeastern Arizona's mountain canyons, where its metallic green body and deep blue throat make the male one of the most vivid hummingbirds in North America. Its broad, red-based bill with a dark tip is distinctive. It gives a chattering 'chi-dit' call unlike most other hummingbirds.
