The Eastern Wolf, sometimes treated as a distinct species (Canis lycaon), is a medium-sized wolf native to the Great Lakes region and eastern Canada. It occupies habitats between the large gray wolf and the smaller coyote and frequently hybridizes with both. Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario is one of the best places to observe this wolf.
