Devil's Beggarticks is a native annual wildflower of wet, disturbed areas and stream banks, producing small orange-yellow flowers followed by barbed seeds that attach readily to clothing, fur, and feathers for dispersal. Despite its weedy reputation, it provides late-season nectar for many insects and its seeds are eaten by waterfowl and marsh birds.
