Douglas Spiraea is a native shrub of Pacific Northwest wetland margins, stream banks, and boggy openings, forming dense thickets of erect stems with pyramidal clusters of deep pink flowers in summer. It provides excellent cover for many birds and small mammals and is an important nectar plant for native bees and butterflies.
