The Carpenter Moth (Prionoxystus robiniae), the Leopard Moth, is a large, white moth densely spotted with dark blue-black spots and blotches. Its larvae spend two to three years boring through the heartwood of oaks, willows, and other hardwoods, creating large tunnels that weaken trees. It is attracted to lights and its large size and striking pattern make it memorable.
