Barren Strawberry is a low, evergreen ground cover of cool northern and Appalachian forests, with strawberry-like leaves and bright yellow flowers in early spring. It spreads by stolons to form dense mats and is one of the first woodland plants to bloom. Native bees visit the flowers for early-season pollen and nectar.
