The White-eyed Vireo is a secretive but loud bird of dense thickets, best known for its explosive, scolding song that often begins and ends with a sharp 'chick.' Its white iris, yellow spectacles, and yellow-washed flanks distinguish it from other vireos. It weaves a deep cup nest suspended from a forked twig in dense shrubs.
