Prostrate Vervain is a low-growing, mat-forming native annual or short-lived perennial found in disturbed, compacted soils across most of North America. It bears small blue-purple flowers on short, leafy spikes that barely emerge above the foliage. Though modest in appearance, it is an important plant of disturbed areas and is frequently visited by small native bees. Prostrate Vervain tolerates drought, trampling, and poor soils remarkably well.
