Safety note: May carry rabies — do not approach or handle.

The Spectral Bat is the largest bat in the Americas and the largest carnivorous bat in the world, with a wingspan of up to 3 feet and the ability to capture roosting birds, mice, and other bats. Despite its menacing appearance and size, it is monogamous and the male assists in pup care—unusual among bats. It barely enters Mexico at the northern limit of its tropical forest range.
