The Cinnamon Bear is not a separate species but a reddish-brown color phase of the American Black Bear most commonly seen in the Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest. In some western populations up to 50% of bears show this cinnamon or blonde coat. Like black-phase bears, cinnamon bears feed on the same seasonal foods and den in similar habitats.
