Trowbridge's Shrew is a bicolored shrew of Pacific Coast conifer forests with a distinctive dark tail that is grayish-brown above and whitish below. It is one of the most abundant small mammals in mature Pacific Northwest forests and plays a key role in controlling bark beetle populations. Active day and night, it rarely pauses for more than a few minutes.
