The Tropical Parula is the counterpart of the Northern Parula in tropical latitudes, barely entering the US in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas. It lacks the dark breast band of the Northern Parula. It inhabits Spanish moss-draped trees in Texas. The two parulas are sometimes considered a superspecies.
