Interior Sandbar Willow is a colony-forming shrub willow of river sandbars and floodplains across central and eastern North America. Growing 6–15 feet tall, it spreads aggressively by root sprouts and quickly stabilizes newly deposited riverine sediments. Its extremely narrow, linear leaves are distinctive among eastern willows. The dense thickets provide important nesting habitat for willow flycatchers, yellow warblers, and other shrub-nesting birds.
