The Yucatan Deer Mouse is a medium-sized Peromyscus restricted to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and adjacent Belize and Guatemala. It inhabits tropical forests and scrublands in a region that is geologically young—the Yucatan platform only emerged relatively recently, giving this species one of the more interesting biogeographic histories of any North American rodent.
