The Black-eared Mouse is a small, high-altitude Peromyscus of pine and fir forests in the Mexican highlands, recognized by the blackish melanin pigmentation around its large ears. It occurs primarily above 2,400 meters in cloud forest and mixed pine-oak woodland. This species is among the most cold-adapted of the genus.
