Bog Asphodel is a rare native wildflower of the New Jersey Pine Barrens and a few scattered sites on the coastal plain, producing spikes of yellow flowers in wet, acidic sphagnum bogs. It is one of the rarest native wildflowers in North America. The species is protected and declining due to habitat loss and hydrological changes in coastal plain bogs.
