The Puaiohi or Small Kauai Thrush is one of the rarest birds in the world, with fewer than 500 individuals surviving in the Alaka'i Swamp on Kauai. It is the sole surviving native thrush on Kauai. A captive breeding program and predator control have helped stabilize the tiny population.
