Bullock's Oriole is the western counterpart of the Baltimore Oriole, the male sporting large white wing patches and an orange face with a black eye line that the Baltimore lacks. The two were once lumped as 'Northern Oriole' but were re-split in 1995 based on genetic and behavioral differences. It hybridizes extensively with Baltimore Orioles in the Great Plains.
