Queen of the Prairie is a tall, dramatic native wildflower of wet prairies and moist meadows, producing huge, fluffy clusters of deep pink flowers in June and July. It is now rare across most of its range due to the near-total loss of wet prairie habitat. Its flowers attract bumblebees and many other insects, and the plant has a strong almond-like fragrance.
