The Mexican Fritillary is a tropical species that occasionally strays into Texas and Arizona. It resembles the Variegated Fritillary but is slightly richer orange-tan. Adults wander widely and are attracted to diverse nectar sources. It does not establish permanent populations in North America but appears as a seasonal visitor from Mexico.

Open scrub, roadsides, and gardens in southern Texas and Arizona
Diet
Larvae: passion vine and turnera. Adults: nectar
