The Anicia Checkerspot is a variable western checkerspot with bold red-and-black banded wings bearing white spots. It inhabits open mountain slopes and meadows above treeline in the Rocky Mountains. Like Edith's Checkerspot it is a specialist on figwort family plants. Adults bask on rocks with wings spread flat to warm up in cool mountain air.
