Illustration of Sedge Wren (Cistothorus platensis)

The Sedge Wren is a secretive wren of wet meadows and sedge bogs. Unlike the Marsh Wren, it is associated with upland wet meadows rather than cattails. It builds multiple 'dummy nests' that may deter predators. Males remarkably abandon their territory mid-season and move north to start a second family.

Habitat
Wet sedge meadows and bogs across the northern US and Canada
Diet
Insects and spiders from low grass and sedge
How common
Uncommon
